Google Play size rules
Google Play is more flexible than the App Store: instead of fixed per-device sizes, it accepts screenshots within a technical range. The resizer offers common presets, and you can enter any custom size:
- Each side between 320 and 3840 px.
- Aspect ratio no greater than 2:1.
- JPEG or 24-bit PNG without transparency.
- Up to 8 MB per screenshot, 2–8 screenshots per device type.
Common presets in the tool include 1080 × 1920, 1920 × 1080, 1440 × 2560, 2560 × 1440, 1242 × 2688 and 2048 × 2732. For consistency across a listing, use the same orientation and ratio for every slide.
After resizing, run the image through the Google Play size checker to confirm dimensions, ratio, format and file size.
Choosing a resize mode
Fit
Keeps the whole image visible and adds padding in your chosen background colour. Best when important UI elements are close to the edges.
Fill
Scales the image to cover the target and crops the overflow. Use the focus sliders to decide which area remains visible. Good for screenshots with generous margins.
Stretch
Forces the image to the target size, changing its aspect ratio. Avoid it for screenshots unless distortion is intentional.
Quality tips
- Start from the largest source you have; enlarging cannot create detail.
- Use PNG for UI with sharp text; JPEG for photographic backgrounds.
- Match the padding colour to the screenshot background.
- Check the final file size stays under 8 MB.
- Keep a consistent 16:9 or 9:16 ratio across the set.
Frequently asked questions
What size should Google Play screenshots be?
Between 320 and 3840 px per side, with a maximum 2:1 aspect ratio. Common phone sizes are 1080 × 1920 and 1440 × 2560, or 1920 × 1080 and 2560 × 1440 in landscape.
Should I crop or pad?
Fit (pad) if everything must stay visible; Fill (crop) if the image has spare margins. Avoid Stretch.
Is the resize lossless?
No. The image is re-encoded. Use a high-quality source and prefer PNG for text-heavy screenshots.
Can I use custom dimensions?
Yes, within the tool's limits. Keep each side within 320–3840 px and the ratio at or below 2:1 for Google Play.
Are my images uploaded?
No. All processing happens locally in your browser.
