Google Play screenshot size checker

Drop your screenshots to check dimensions, aspect ratio, format and file size against Google Play's requirements. Everything runs locally in your browser.

Local processing. Your images stay on your device — this page never uploads them.

Google Play screenshot requirements

Unlike the App Store's fixed per-device sizes, Google Play accepts a range of screenshot dimensions as long as each image stays within the technical limits. The checker applies these rules:

RuleRequirement
Minimum side320 px
Maximum side3840 px
Aspect ratioNo more than 2:1 (longer side ≤ 2 × shorter side)
FormatsJPEG or 24-bit PNG (no alpha/transparency)
File sizeUp to 8 MB per screenshot
Count2–8 screenshots per device type in the listing

These are technical limits. Google Play also applies content and listing policies. Confirm current values in the official screenshot guidance.

Recommended presentation

  • Use a consistent orientation across the set.
  • 16:9 (landscape) or 9:16 (portrait) is the most common phone ratio.
  • Keep text large enough to read in the store's scaled-down carousel.
  • Avoid transparent areas; flatten PNGs onto an opaque background.

How the checker works

  1. Choose or drop screenshots — several at once is fine.
  2. The browser decodes each image and reads its real pixel dimensions, format and size.
  3. Every image is checked against the limits above.
  4. Results and explanations are shown per file; remove individual files as needed.

The checker validates each file independently. It cannot verify that the set has the minimum count for a listing, or that the images are appropriate for a specific device type — check those in Play Console.

Common Google Play screenshot problems

Aspect ratio too extreme

A long, narrow image (for example a full-page scrolling capture) can exceed 2:1. Crop it to a standard ratio or split it into several screenshots. The Google Play resizer can fit it into a standard size.

Side below 320 px

Very small exports can fall under the minimum. Use a higher-resolution source where possible; upscaling small images reduces clarity.

Transparent PNG

Google Play expects opaque images. Flatten transparency onto a solid background and re-export as PNG or JPEG.

File larger than 8 MB

Large photographic backgrounds at maximum resolution can exceed the limit. Export JPEG with reasonable quality or reduce the dimensions while staying above 320 px per side.

Frequently asked questions

What are the Google Play screenshot size requirements?

Each side must be 320–3840 px, the aspect ratio must not exceed 2:1, and files must be JPEG or 24-bit PNG without transparency, up to 8 MB.

How many screenshots can I add?

Google Play accepts between 2 and 8 screenshots per device type. This checker validates each file individually.

Why does my screenshot fail?

The most common reasons are an out-of-range side, an aspect ratio above 2:1, transparency, an unsupported format, or a file over 8 MB. The result list explains the specific issue.

Does a passing result guarantee acceptance?

No. It confirms technical requirements only; Google Play applies additional content and policy rules.

Are my screenshots uploaded?

No. Validation happens entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded or stored.
