App Store screenshot size checker

Drop one or more screenshots to see whether their dimensions, format and file size match Apple's App Store requirements. Everything is checked locally in your browser.

App Store screenshot requirements

App Store Connect requires exact screenshot dimensions for each device family. A screenshot that looks correct but is even a few pixels off can be rejected. Sizes are listed as portrait width × height; landscape screenshots use the same values with width and height swapped.

Format and file rules

  • Formats: JPEG/JPG or PNG.
  • Colour: RGB, no alpha channel; screenshots should be fully opaque.
  • Resolution: 72 DPI metadata is conventional; the pixel dimensions are what matter.
  • File size: keep each screenshot under 10 MB (a practical limit used by this checker).
  • You can provide several screenshots per device size; App Store Connect shows them in order.

How the checker works

  1. Select screenshots with the file picker or drag them onto the drop area.
  2. Each image is decoded locally and its width, height, format and size are read.
  3. The dimensions are matched against the supported App Store sizes above.
  4. You get a per-file result, with the closest supported sizes when there is no exact match.

The checker does not inspect content, metadata, compression artefacts or App Store Connect account rules. It is a fast technical pre-flight check.

Common App Store screenshot problems

Wrong pixel size

Exporting from a design tool at the wrong artboard size is the most common issue. If your image is 1290 × 2796 but you are submitting it for the 6.9-inch slot, use the App Store resizer to reach 1320 × 2868, or export directly at the correct size.

Transparency or CMYK

PNG screenshots with transparent areas, or files exported in CMYK, can fail validation. Re-export as RGB PNG or JPEG with an opaque background.

Portrait and landscape mixed up

Landscape screenshots are the same dimensions with width and height swapped. The checker accepts both orientations for iPhone and iPad sizes.

Upscaling reduces quality

Resizing a small image up to a larger store size cannot add detail. Where possible, start from the highest-resolution capture available.

Frequently asked questions

What screenshot sizes does the App Store accept?

Apple accepts exact sizes per device family — for example 1320 × 2868 (iPhone 6.9"), 1290 × 2796 (6.7") and 2064 × 2752 (iPad Pro 13"). See the table above and Apple's official specification.

Which image formats are accepted?

PNG, JPG and JPEG. Apple expects RGB images without transparency.

Can I check multiple screenshots at once?

Yes. Select or drop several files; each one is checked and listed individually, and you can remove them one by one.

Does a valid result guarantee App Store approval?

No. The checker validates technical requirements only. App Review and App Store Connect apply additional content and metadata rules.

Are my screenshots uploaded to a server?

No. All decoding and validation happens in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, stored or logged.
