App Icon Resizer

Turn one master icon into the square sizes used by the App Store, Google Play, iPhone, iPad and Mac — with a ZIP download when you need the whole set.

Local processing. Your files stay on your device — this page never uploads or stores them.

How the App Icon Resizer works

  1. Drop a master icon or choose one with the file picker. 1024 × 1024 is ideal.
  2. The image is decoded locally and centre-cropped to a square if it is not already square.
  3. Every size in the preset list is rendered on a canvas and encoded as PNG.
  4. Download one icon, or the complete set as a ZIP archive.

Nothing is uploaded. The source image, generated pixels and ZIP are created in your browser and released when you reset the tool or close the page.

Icon sizes included

The presets cover the common App Store and Google Play icon slots. You can use the whole set or only the sizes your project needs.

Why square, opaque icons matter

Store icons are square source images that each platform masks into its own shape. Apple expects a 1024 × 1024 PNG without an alpha channel for the App Store master icon; Google Play uses a 512 × 512 icon. Because the platform applies the mask, keep your logo and any text well inside the edges, and test how the icon looks at 40 px or 20 px.

This tool exports PNG files. If your source has transparent areas, the transparency is preserved in the output — flatten it onto a solid background before submitting an Apple icon that must be opaque.

Tips for a crisp icon set

  • Start from the largest square source available; upscaling cannot add detail.
  • Keep the design simple and avoid small text that disappears at launcher sizes.
  • Use bold shapes and strong contrast so the icon reads on light and dark wallpapers.
  • Check the 1024 px master and the smallest 20 px output before shipping.
  • Keep a single master file so future size changes are quick and consistent.

Frequently asked questions

What size should an App Store icon be?

Apple's App Store master icon is 1024 × 1024 px, supplied as a PNG without transparency. Xcode asset catalogs also use smaller iPhone and iPad sizes such as 180, 120, 87, 80, 60, 58, 40, 29 and 20 px. Confirm current values in Apple's documentation.

Can I resize my icon without uploading it?

Yes. The image is decoded, cropped and resized with the browser's own image and canvas APIs. No file or pixel data is sent to AppScenes or any third party.

Does the App Icon Resizer store my image?

No. There is no upload, no database and no local storage of image data. The file is held in memory only while the page is open and is released on reset or when the page closes.

Can I generate multiple icon sizes at once?

Yes. One upload generates the complete preset set, and you can download every icon individually or as a single ZIP archive.

What image formats are supported?

PNG, JPEG and WebP input are supported when your browser can decode them. Output is always PNG, which is the format both stores expect for app icons.
